Waiting, Flushing Meadows, New York, September 2016
Printed on 5 x7 matte archival fine art paper.
All the matches had ended at the US Open, and we were walking back to the car with the masses of other tennis fans, when I saw all of these trains just waiting. I am always struck by the sheer number of people who live in New York City, and I felt it keenly that night at the US Open. But I felt it even more when I realized the scope of the infrastructure that exists to deal with so many people. It was as if all the trains where sleeping, but still keeping one watchful eye on their people. Getting ready for another day of service. Waiting.
